Surrogacy was a practice that was frowned upon as the involved parents were thought to not be complete parents. The notion changed when celebrities opted for it as a way of creating a family and announced it.
In African countries, the practice has still not been fully embraced. Celebrities have opted to use surrogacy because of three main reasons one’s choice and fertility issues and being queer.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye west
Kim and Kanye West opted for surrogacy after Kim had difficulty during her second pregnancy, and their doctor advised her against carrying another pregnancy.
They used two surrogates for the birth of their daughter Chicago and son Psalm.
Grimes and Elon Musk
Grimes revealed that on March 2022, during a vanity fair interview that she and billionaire musk secretly welcomed their second child, a daughter, through surrogacy.
They named her Exa Dark Sidereal.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade
In November 2018, Gabuunion took to her Instagram to announce the birth of her daughter through surrogacy.
She said,’ we are sleepless and delirious but excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via a surrogate. Their daughter, Kaavia James Union Wade, is three years old.
She is known for her role in the fast and furious nine. Jordana explained that she actually needed a surrogate to welcome her two boys.
Julian was born in 2013, and Rowan was born in 2016.
Tyra bank welcomed her son York in 2016 through surrogacy. Tyra revealed that she had infertility issues and opted for IVF treatment with her boyfriend, Erik Asia.
It was because of failed attempts that she opted for surrogacy.
Elton John and David Furnish
Elton John and David furnish used one surrogate to give birth to their two sons. They ensured that they were in the delivery room during their births so as to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
Their first son is Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish, born in 2010; their second son is Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish, born in 2013.
Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra
The couple announced the birth of their first child through surrogacy in January 2022. Nick announced the news on his Instagram.
He stated that ‘we are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate‘. . He also added that ‘we respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family.
Jimmy Fallon and Nancy Juvenon
Fallon and his wife Nancy opted for surrogacy after a long struggle with fertility issues. The couple has two children through surrogacy Winnie was born in 2013, and Frances was born in 2014.
Hilaria Baldwin and Alec Baldwin
The couple made the announcement in March 2021 that they welcomed their 6th child together via a surrogate.
This came as a shock as Hilaria had just recently given birth to their 5th child in September 2020. Their 6th child is a girl named Maria Lucia Victoria.
Elizabeth Banks and Handelman
Elizabeth Banks and Handelman have welcomed all their two children through surrogacy. They opted for it because Banks struggled to conceive.
The children are Felix, 9years old, and Magnus, eight years old.
