Michael Jordan vs LeBron James

Michael Jordan Versus LeBron James: Who Is the GOAT?

Published

on

“GOATs on GOATs”

Ever since LeBron James was deemed as The Chosen One, there has been a conversation about whether he could surpass Michael Jordan as the greatest of all time. LeBron grew up idolizing MJ. He dressed like him, wore his shoes, and studied his play style. Once he joined the league, he even donned the number 23.

LeBron recently appeared in his eighth straight NBA Finals series in 2018. He has ten in total and now holds a record of 4–6. Jordan, as we all know, has six rings in six appearances. Oftentimes, the rings argument is what puts MJ ahead of LeBron in debates on who is the GOAT. However, rings shouldn’t carry that much weight. If they did, the greatest player ever would be Bill Russell, who won 11 championships in his 13-year career.

From time to time, LeBron even busted out a Jordan classic: that famous turnaround jumper.

Who is considered the GOAT of basketball is important because of the impact one player can have on the game because basketball teams can completely be changed by one man.

The process of actually picking a winner between the two greatest basketball players of all time is ultimately going to be based on individual preference. Some simply prefer Jordan; others, LeBron. Little can be done to sway aligned voters, and the stretches presented above create yet another stalemate between the two. Jordan and LeBron did fundamentally different things on the court. Both proved that they were at least capable of matching the other.
