IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati now says he will write to DPP Nordin Haji to prosecute Kiambu Governor James Nyoro and his team over the chaos witnessed in Juja on Tuesday night.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Wednesday, Chebukati said Haji should arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the chaos.

The electoral agency was forced to suspend vote tallying in Juja constituency after  chaos erupted.

Chebukati blamed Nyoro for disrupting the process. The vote tallying resumed on Wednesday, 10 hours after the suspension.

“At around 10:20pm tonight there was disruption of the tallying process at Mang’u HighSchool Tallying center in Juja Constituency by a group of individuals led by the KiambuCounty Governor Mr. James Nyoro,” Chebukati  said.

Earlier, three men stormed the center at Mang’u High school and caused a commotion raising concerns from parties involved.

Police intervened and whisked the three away.

However a melee ensued between Jubilee candidate Susan Njeri’s supporters led by Nyoro and Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba and PEP candidate George Koimburi’s supporters led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata and Witeithie Ward MCA Julius Macharia.

Governor Nyoro claimed that votes belonging to Njeri were dumped in a school in Juja calling for a halt of the counting and tallying.

Nyoro said that unknown individuals were out to rig the elections in favour of Koimburi.

“We don’t give a damn! And we, and we don’t care,” the Kiambu Governor said.

Mwaura had lost his seat as a nominated senator after the ruling party expunged his name from the party membership list.

However, Mwaura moved to the High Court where he secured a favorable ruling.

“The High Court having quashed Gazette notice number 4597 by the Speaker of the Senate that declared a vacancy of a member elected through a party list, thereby removing senator (Dr) Isaac Mwaura as a senator,” Lusaka said.

Mwaura was escorted to the chamber by Deputy President William Ruto’s allies.

They were Naomi Waqo (nominated), Falhada Iman (nominated), and Christopher Langat (Bomet).

The tribunal, he said, made a mistake when it held that the party was justified to discipline Mwaura.

The court subsequently set aside the decision of the Tribunal and substituted it with an order allowing Mwaura’s complaint.

The National Disciplinary Committee after hearing the parties resolved to have Mwaura suspended for six months from the party’s membership.

The entry of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru into the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) has created a rift between the party and Kirinyaga Women Rep Purity Ngirici.

Thursday, November 25, Ngirici expressed regret for funding UDA to the tune of millions.

Kirinyaga Women Rep Purity Ngirici regrets that despite all the sacrifices, the party seemed to support her rival Governor Waiguru.

I don’t even want to remember how much I have used to build the UDA party in Kirinyaga from scratch, but I’m young in politics and still learning,” Ngirici stated.

Waiguru’s defection to the UDA party, in Ngirici’s opinion, has ‘opened her eyes.’

I popularised UDA Party in Kirinyaga County. I convinced my people that UDA was the political outfit to join, and that Ruto was the man best-suited to take over from [President] Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

I also made them see the gaps in BBI, which was being championed by the President’s team,” she said.

During that time, Waiguru was on the other side opposing Ruto, claiming that the DP had rented members of the Kikuyu community.

She was also at the forefront popularising BBI across Kenya,” said Ngirici.

She expressed confidence that her supporters will follow her, regardless of the party she will be vying on.
