Lamu Senator Anwar loitiptip was arrested after shooting a lady in the leg following an argument in Nanyuki.

A 32-year-old woman is nursing gunshot wounds at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital after a confrontation erupted between her and Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip. This took place at Kanu Grounds in Nanyuki town, Laikipia County.

“Joy Makena, aged 32 years was shot [sic] on her right leg above the ankle after a quarrel ensued between her and the senator Lamu county Hon. Anwar,” part of the police report read.

The officers launched investigations, visited the scene, and recovered a firearm with 13 bullets from Senator Anwar’s security detail.

Media reports indicate that Anwar said he was attacked at the hotel in Nanyuki and was forced to shoot in the air to scare his attackers.

“I am at a hospital for some checkup and will speak on the matter later, but the truth is that I was attacked by a knife-wielding gang last night,” he said

Police said the lawmaker’s whereabouts are yet to be established and that Makena was in stable condition.

Later in the day Onesmus Towett, the County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) for Laikipia, said the police received a call at about 2.00 pm from members of the public.

“We established that the senator had already traveled to Nairobi but we called him and he told us that he had been confronted by two women and a man and that he shot in self-defense,” said Towett.

Towett said the Senator had informed police that he had also been injured in the incident and was seeking medical attention in Nairobi.

Ngirici opens up on her deteriorating relationship with Ruto

The entry of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru into the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) has created a rift between the party and Kirinyaga Women Rep Purity Ngirici.

Thursday, November 25, Ngirici expressed regret for funding UDA to the tune of millions.

Kirinyaga Women Rep Purity Ngirici regrets that despite all the sacrifices, the party seemed to support her rival Governor Waiguru.

I don’t even want to remember how much I have used to build the UDA party in Kirinyaga from scratch, but I’m young in politics and still learning,” Ngirici stated.

Waiguru’s defection to the UDA party, in Ngirici’s opinion, has ‘opened her eyes.’

I popularised UDA Party in Kirinyaga County. I convinced my people that UDA was the political outfit to join, and that Ruto was the man best-suited to take over from [President] Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

I also made them see the gaps in BBI, which was being championed by the President’s team,” she said.

During that time, Waiguru was on the other side opposing Ruto, claiming that the DP had rented members of the Kikuyu community.

She was also at the forefront popularising BBI across Kenya,” said Ngirici.

She expressed confidence that her supporters will follow her, regardless of the party she will be vying on.

“If I ran today on a Jubilee ticket and someone else ran on a different party, even if people felt I had performed, it would be hard to convince them to vote for me,” she said.
