At the news briefing, homicide detective Michael Borrow explained that the arrests were made in large part thanks to surveillance video acquired from the location. They received virtually little assistance from those who were present. He also confirmed that Takeoff was a bystander who was not involved in the dice game that preceded the shooting.

In the early hours of November 1, word spread that Takeoff had been killed. After a private party, Quavo, Takeoff, and about 40 other people were standing outside 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston when an argument turned to shooting. Takeoff was hit in the head or neck. Two more persons were shot and taken to the hospital. Takeoff was declared dead at the scene.

On the internet, there is video of the chaotic aftermath of the shooting as well as 911 recordings. Takeoff is shown in the video footage lying in a pool of blood on the flood. In the video, Quavo can also be seen attempting to help his nephew and bandmate. Only Built for Infinity Links, Quavo and Takeoff’s debut album as a pair, was released less than a month before his death.
