Pep Guardiola’s fiercest enemies as Man City boss is accused of “faking” Sergio Aguero tears

Published

“I need enemies. I love when people hate me and hope I fail. It gives me fire and makes me think “OK, watch this.” It’s a necessity for all athletes, not only coaches. This kept us going and helps us perform every three days.”

In a career that has already seen him win almost every club honor, the Manchester City boss has ruffled a few feathers.

Segio Aguero’s father Leonel del Castillo is the latest to send some harsh words his way, accusing Guardiola of faking his emotional farewell to the striker.

“I don’t believe his tears. He never wanted him, he wants to be the protagonist of all his teams,” Leonel told Radio La Red. “He never treated him well, nor me or his brothers.

“Guardiola is a great coach but from one day to the next he changes the players, the environment changes.

“Pep Guardiola has lived his whole life in Barcelona, but in the years I spent there he didn’t understand the squad. He didn’t live the life of our group,” Eto’o told beIN Sports.

Ever since, he has had no issue in sending digs at his former manager, reserving extensive sections of his autobiography to that very end.

“When you buy me, you are buying a Ferrari. If you drive a Ferrari, you put premium petrol in the tank, you hit the motorway and you step on the gas,” he humbly explained. “Guardiola filled up with diesel and took a spin in the countryside. He should have bought a Fiat.”
