Here is a list of mainstream rappers whose crimes made them be convicted to do time.

Tupac Shakur

The late Tupac Shakur was well known for his misfortunes with the courts. He was jailed on the sexual assault charge on February 14, 1995, though still a victim of a hit where he was shot five times before his verdict on the assault was reached.

He went to the courtroom a wheelchair and was sentenced to 11 months jail term. While in prison, Tupac wrote his album Me against the world.

Tupac was released in October 1995 after record mogul Suge Knight posted a $1.4 million bail.

This was in exchange for 2-Pac’s promise to record three albums for Knight’s Death Row record label. Only serving nine months of the 1.5 years to 4.5 years, he was jailed.

Lil Wayne

 Wayne has always been the gangster from his gangster tattoos and gang affiliation; hence has had several run-ins with the law, including weapons charges and drug offenses.

The weapons offense led to him being sent to the infamous Rikers Island prison facility in New York.

 He did a jail term of eight months of a 12-month sentence.

50 Cent

50 Cent was arrested for trying to sell four vials of coke to an undercover cop. He did not learn his lesson; he was arrested again after cops found drugs in his home a few weeks later.

He is a well-established American rapper.

He was sentenced to 3 years in prison in 2004 for violating probation after being charged with drugs in 1997. He served one month, and he got a work-release program.

He was sentenced to and served one year of house arrest and one year of prison in 2008 for possession of unregistered weapons.

T.I also got sentenced to and served 11 months of prison in 2010 for violating probation.

Fat Joe

Legendary New York City’s greatest rapper Fat Joe has had his share of legal tribulations that he ended up in jail.

In 1998, the illest MC in the game was arrested for alleged assault and robbery. His allegations were centered on him beating a man with a baseball bat and stealing his gold necklace.

He was with Big Pun, a fellow rapper. In 2002 Fat Joe was also accused of another assault for getting into a fight at BB Kingsblues club in New York City.

Fat Joe in 2012 pleaded guilty to tax issues where he failed to remit 3 million dollars from 2007 to 2010.

He was sentenced to 4 months in prison, and he finished his jail time. Fat Joe always got away with other crimes, but a tax evasion landed him in jail.

Meek Mill has been in the rapping scene since 2003, But he became well known in 2008 .it was in 2008 when he was first convicted for drug dealing and weapon charges.

He was handed six months of prison time and five years probation to complete his sentence. Despite his tussle with the law, Meek Mill was very stubborn.

He said that he violated his probation as it’s hard to balance his career while on probation.
